Lyndhurst will be a 12-team mecca for holiday hoops

LYNDHURST– After hosting the Lyndhurst Holiday Tournament, a six-team girls basketball event, for many years, LHS has added a boys tourney to its holiday hoops lineup.
The Bruce Bartlett Memorial Holiday Tournament will also feature six squads and will open on Monday, Dec. 27. Named in honor of a former LHS boys roundball team mentor who passed away in 2008, the new event will feature Becton Regional, Queen of Peace, Palisades Park, Kearny Christian and Christ the King of Newark, along with the host team.
On Monday, the Bruce Bartlett Memorial Holiday Tournament will open with Kearny Christian facing Pal Park at Noon, followed by QP vs. Christ the King at 1:30.
Tuesday, Dec. 28, will bring a consolation game for Monday’s losers at 4, followed by Becton facing the Kearny/Pal Park winner at 5:30 and Lyndhurst battling the QP/CK winner at 7 p.m.
Finally, on Dec. 30, the third/fourth place game is set for 5, with the tourney’s title tussle on tap for 7 p.m.
In similar fashion, the girls field will see Midland Park battling Orange at 6 and Pal Park taking on homestanding Lyndhurst at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, followed by a fifth/sixth place conso clash at 4, Park Ridge facing the MP/Oange winner at 5:30 and defending champion Fort Lee going up against the Pal Park/Lyndhurst survivor at 7 on Monday, Dec. 27, with the third/fourth place contest at 6 and the tournament’s crown clash at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29.
