Thomas Jefferson School students meet with local veterans at assembly

NORTH ARLINGTON (Dec. 16, 2010) — The fourth and fifth graders at Thomas Jefferson School in North Arlington attended an excellent assembly in honor of Veterans Day.

The veterans shared their experiences, answered questions and allowed the students to explore the memorabilia they had on display. As a homework assignment the students were asked to write down questions to ask the veterans. The questions were outstanding and the veterans candidly answered each question.

The veterans pictured from left to right are Jerry Quintero (specialist), Anthony Baez (sergeant) and Harvey Applegate (VFW commander). The students pictured from left to right are Gabriela Alvarez and David Kleiner (both grade four) and Tatiana Yared and Ryan Comacho (both grade five).
